Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

The Carnegie Mellon Panhellenic Council has added a Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (VP DEI) onto our Executive Board. The VP DEI will lead the development and implementation of a strategic plan regarding DEI education and initiatives within the community.

Initiatives:

The Panhellenic Community has also passed a bylaw requiring each Panhellenic chapter to have a point person to lead DEI initiatives within their own chapter. VP DEI will host roundtables to provide resources for the chapters. Each chapter is unique in its own way, so the Panhellenic Council will not be mandating all chapters to follow a strict schedule of events within each chapter.

The VP DEI will also form a DEI Committee composed of at least one member from each Panhellenic Chapter. The committee will assist the VP DEI in reaching their goals and take charge in smaller scale projects.

Current Actions Being Taken:

We are partnering with the Interfraternity Council (IFC) to bring in an educational speaker to teach our members about unconscious bias and prejudices. This event will be required for everyone in the Panhellenic Community and to ensure this happens, a recording will be provided for those who can not attend in real time.
